All workers receive adequate training, information and instruction to help them perform their duties to a high quality standard, in a manner which minimises the risks to their health and safety, in compliance with appropriate legislation, and with minimal impact on the environment.
We regularly assess the skills, knowledge and competence of our workers and plan appropriate training, both internal and external, to address any skills gaps and refresher requirements. All employees are encouraged to identify competencies they wish to develop.
We do not permit workers to carry out any activity for which they do not have the necessary skills, qualifications, experience or knowledge.
Examples of training provided include:
Management skills for managers and supervisors;
General health and safety awareness;
CITB, CSCS skills competency qualification – (including managers, supervisors and operatives);
CITB, CPCS plant operation competence;
First aid at work;
Manual handling operations – including kinetic method of handling;
Fire control procedures;
Use of abrasive wheels;
Face fit testing;
Confined space entry;
Use of CAT and Genny (services locating)
Safe working with display screen equipment; and
